Will anything new come out? Like I have stated before I am waiting on my Dell 3008 to come in and want to play @ 2560x1600. I play CODMW2 95% of the time and have a PSU and system that will support anything I throw at it. Looking at the XFX HD5870 429.99 card @ Newegg but my question center around two things.

http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E168...

Anything new on the ATI horizon that will handle what I want to do? (I know the 470 and 480 are coming out but a little out of my price range.)

Jumping from current NVIDIA drivers to Catalyst what is the best way to avoid conflicts?

Just don't want to regret a 430.00 purchase 30 days from now.

Thanks guys.

How do you know the 470 and 480 are out of your price range when no price has been announced? If anything wait 3 weeks and see if they cause the 5870's price to go down

Might do that. Also are the non reference cards for the ATI going to be that much better than the reference cards themselves?

So I just bought a ASUS EAH5870 for 399.99+10 shipping and used a 25% Paypal coupon which got it out the door fro $311.56.

I like :

The MSI 5870 Lightning (TwinFrozr cooling), maybe 1,000MHz (losted on the Danish Komplett site as 900MHz core @ £429 $570 pre release price) as standard, has better OCing tools allowing up to 1.5v as standard and better components than reference models.

I have seen them make on here:

1,075MHz core
or
1,100MHz core and 5,508MHz memory

on air.

1,475 on Liquid Nitrogen

Oh, forgot to mention :

MSI stops producing all reference models by the end of March
So I expect these will be available around then too :D

Wow that card is not cheap at all but it is nice. The ASUS fell below my price point of 400.00 and with the coupon made it almost 100.00 bucks cheaper.

am thinking it is a pre-release price and when everyone gets stock it will get cheaper...

MSI said their new 5870 TwinFrozr (not lightning version) will retail for about 10 - 20 EUR more than the current model...

So maybe the Lightning edition will be cheaper than that price.

Also I believe Denmark has a Very high luxury goods tax...

Just checked, the site's cheapest 5870 (Powercolor) is $494
with other normal models being $530 ish

so am sure the Lightnings real price will be a lot lower ;)
