If the Intel core for a mother board can be changed

i have a foxconn mother board and i have my new but smaller asus mother board, i want to find out if i can change the intel core in the foxconn with a better intel core

the foxconn core is intel core 2 6400 @ 2.13GHz
the asus is similar to my laptop and that is intel core duo 2 (i dont know what the model thing is sorry) @3.00GHz

Look for "cpu support" on foxconn's website for your board.

what would happen if the core was not compatible as would it not work or will it kill the whole pc

Use cpu-z to id your motherboard model number. It's socket 775.

it doesnt say the core i have but it say Intel Core™2 Duo 2.66G would it be alright if i put in Intel Core™2 Duo 3.00G

Find the "cpu support" section on foxconn's website under "support". It's the only way to know for sure. Some cpus require a bios update before they will work.
