Hey guys, havent been on here for a bit. I see everyones still a bit excited about the Hitachi here. But check this. I just stumbled upon some older news that's making a comeback. Over at overclockers.com a post was recently made about Sharp introducing a 3d lcd monitor. In a nutshell i'll explain what it does (feel free to read into it thru the links ill provide)... instead of wearing any 3d glasses or whatnot, these monitors have a switch that changes from the normal 2d mode to 3d mode. In 3d mode, the lcd screen has an extra filter screen in the tft, and what it does is it sends out one distinct light signal to say the right eye, and then a bit different one to the left eye. This is the way our eyes see in true life, and so this monitor emulates the way we see the world around us, making our mind think that what we are looking at on the screen is in fact a real 3d object. This in turn makes the object seem to project out of the screen and seem realistic.
Sound cool? I thought so!!! Anyway, like i said Sharp was looking to introduce one not too soon from now; but after doing a little browsing I found that one company by the name of DTI has already manufactured and is selling monitors of this type. This is supposedly one of the leading 3d companys in the world at the moment due to all the research that they emphasize on this topic. I've read some reviews on it and they have mixed feelings.
True, this is pretty pricey, the 15" DTI is around $1600, that is, it was listed at this price a little over a year ago, so i would imagine it went down. But furthermore, the reviews comment that it looks fabolous, however, one must sit in a pretty precise location to have the 2 light signals hit the eyes correctly, otherwise the image gets a bit blurry.
Ok, I'm done, here are some links to check it out for yourself instead of me rambling about it. Tell me what u think. Let me know if you know of any newer monitors out like this- or even something that may be debuting soon. Thanks
