You ALWAYS want to start with the PCIe slot closest to the CPU and work your way down in your case the 'RED' PCIe slots. There is no magical switch and it is done with: Chips/BIOS/Software/H/W Bridges. The only part that you need to 'do' other than install the Bridge & Power to the GPUs is in Windows and the Control Panel set-up.

i mean it looks like he skipped a slot right? to me it does and if he did it would really nice to know how he did and BTW i do have 4 little stiches on my mobo and the manual says they are PCIe x16 lane switch
