Hi, I recently moved into a new house, soon after I decided to build a new computer. I have now finished building my new system and it has been running ok for the last 2 weeks. Today I started getting an electrical sounding ticking noise from the PSU. I plugged my old system into in and I got the same noise. I then brought my new system to my mothers house and tried it and there was no ticking sound. If the electrics in my new house are bad why have I only started hearing the ticking?. Also, what my the ticking be?. The computer runs just fine with the ticking but hearing it is very worrying and annoying. It happens once every 3-4 seconds and lasts only for a split second. Any thoughts?

Could (partially) be due to acoustics in sparsely furnished new diggs ...

Keep moving it around (circuit to circuit) ...

Let it warm all the way up.

Absolutely sure it is PSU ?? Not DVDR ? ... Not HDD ?

It is either stuff heating up or background drive access ...

Just keep an eye on it and don't leave it running when you are asleep or at work, until you get it pinned down.

Be careful, there might be a bomb :kaola:

I would do the paperclip trick with the PSU separate from the computer.
