Did you try an S-VHS cable from the laptop to the monitor?
Dunno if you need to toggle any software though.

Usually they are a suoerst of S-VHS, so a regular S-Video cable will
plug right in.

You may have to power up and boot with the cable connected to a
monitor in order for it to work.

( before e-mailing, remove "NOSPAM" from address )
In the desktop area of the screen, right-click "Properties", which
should bring up "Display Properties".
Clinck on "settings", "Advanced", SDisplay
This is what I do in my T23.
Just ... don't expect much quality from the Thinkpad's TV-out, it's
really bad, much worse than any of current TV-outs from desktop
machines which in their turn are not as good as say, a Matrox TV-out.
For videos of very high quality (DVDs and other formats that haven't
been too compressed), the TV-out in your Thinkpad should be usable and
deliver image similar to a not brand-new VHS rental tape.
It would be very nice if a dedicated good-quality TV-out could be
connected by way of a PC Card, though I have no knowledge of such a
thing.
Hope this helps.
