i'm planning to buy a new Desktop. i'm very beginner in computer, so i need ur advice for my build. (i've some limitted budget)

(plz don't advice me on AMD because here, at my place, no AMD is available, thanks)

my current choice.

intel Q8300 2.5Ghz with stock cooler
Gigabyte G41 ES2L
Kingston DDR3 1333MHz 2GB
500 GB WD HDD
<XFX ATI 4670 DDR2 1 GB> not inculded in current buy,i'll get this at christmas when my budget allow me.
400W PSU

*** i won't OC this machine(except with Gigabyte Easy Tune 6) but not important at all
my current monitor is samsung 20" 1600*900 VGA + DVI
my current OS is Window XP professional SP2
my current and only computer is Gateway laptop <2.0 GHz Pen Dual Core + 2GB DDR2 + 512 MB Nvidia 105M)

so let me know some questions

1. is this machine possible to upgrade to Window 7. <even with IGP>
2. i'll use this machine for games when graphic card is purchased, so can i play recent games with this combo.
3. Q8300 can be used with G41 but i want to know that can i obtain full performance of Q8300 with G41(without OC)
4.what wil be better performance between this combo and E7500+G41+4670.
5.is there any chipset (on budget side) for me instead of G41 for Q8300?

with a lot of thanks
and any other suggestions are welcome
:) :pt1cable:

i understand ur advice bro

but for me AMD is out of option for me < because it's not available here>
yes, for intel, 775 is an old platform.

for me Q8300 + G 41 cost >> ~USD 198
and core i3 530 + H55 (gigabyte least expensive board) cost >> ~USD 125

and i think 4 physical cores is far better than 2 phisical + 2 logical cores in real time usage.

so i think i should choose quad over i3.
so plz correct me.

and i don't understand anything about OC, (so i told OC is not necessary for me), but are there any easy way to OC with stock cooler (may be up to 2.8 GHz)

so 2 more questions
1. 2 physical + 2 logical cores vs 4 physical cores
2. if i go with Q8300 + G41 with stock cooler, any chance to OC in easy way?

thanks again

nice link bro

but i've told , i don't have plan for serious OC (i don't know how to do it and i can't afford a more expensive cooler), so in stock speed, 4 2.5 GHz true core vs 2.93GHz 2+2 cores
and which one is better for Q8300 <G41 vs P31>

thanks

No matter how you look at it the I3 is faster. New architecture of the I3 gives a pretty significant boost over the Q8300.

finnal i decide to go with

core i3 2.93GHz + Gigabyte H55S2H.

-so how about this combo
-is there any easy way to overclock with stock cooler
-i read in somewhere ( i can't remember which forum) intel HD graphic on i3 is better than ATI 4350, isn't it? or which games can i play with intel at 1024 resolution?

thanks again

I would strongly advise you never overclock with ANY stock cooler.
its just not "cool enough". LOL. I just ordered a wonderful 35$ coolermaster 212 plus 4 pipe direct touch heatsink. that outta stop this darn core2 e7500 that is like going up to 75C on average!!, even after a thermal pasting job i did 2 weeks ago. grr
