The SB850 is the south bridge chip. mobos have a northbridge and a southbridge. Usually the NB is advertised, and the SB is kinda forgotten. I think NB handles, CPU, memory and graphics as main functions, whereas SB deals with networking, sound, and some of the PCIs (I might be wrong , though).

1- SB859 doesn't exist.
2- The mobod is good for support the Phenom II series (include X6), but if you want overclock avoid the 890GX and mobos with onboard video, get a 890FX chipset.

I know, but if he goes to buy a mobo with a SB859, the only thing that he will have is a big laugh.

What other options do you have? I prefer Crucial, Corsair, G.Skill, Kingston (Only HyperX series)

the other options are transcend, mushkin (mushkin is kind of expensive and i have to order it from a different online shop that is much further away it is more effort and the transport cost might be quite hefty) and corsair but the corsair ram is very expensive

Compare all those, Corsair, G.Skill, Geil and Transcend. Compare specs and prices with/without shipping and select the best for you.

What specs has the Geil, Transcend, Mushkin and Corsair? What are the prices?
