Forum Motherboards & Memory : Chipsets & Bios Best value x58 motherboard

hey guys,

any thoughts on the best value x 58 motherboard? was going to go for an amd x6 build but since the i7 950 is only slightly more expensive i decided to go that, i want sata 6 and usb 3.0 and to be able to use tribble buffer memory.

was looking at the asus p6t premium board but they are very pricey.

Would i get that much more preformance then an x6 1095t with a good motherboard and ram compared to the above? am i right to change to intel?

I am on a budget but i have 500 euro for the case psu ram mob and chip but can strech over if its justfied :kaola:

^ Umm... that's a contradiction GPU. You do **NOT** want an X58 MOBO with an on-board GPU even if they made one.

An x58 build is going to start at €650 and a 'good' build €1,000, so maybe look to a good AM3 build at €630+.

Example AM3 Build:
CAS: CoolerMaster 690 II Advanced Mid-Tower Gaming Case (Black Color)
CD: 24X Double Layer Dual Format DVD+-R/+-RW + CD-R/RW Drive (BLACK COLOR)
CPU: AMD Phenom™II X6 1055T Six-Core CPU w/ HyperTransport Technology
FAN: Corsair H50
FLASHMEDIA: INTERNAL 12in1 Flash Media Reader/Writer (BLACK COLOR)
HDD: 1TB SATA-II 3.0Gb/s 16MB Cache 7200RPM HDD (Single Hard Drive)
MEMORY: 4GB (2GBx2) DDR3/1600MHz Dual Channel Memory Module (Corsair Dominator)
MOTHERBOARD: Asus M4A87TD EVO AMD 870 Chipset CrossFireX Support DDR3 Socket AM3 ATX w/ 7.1 Audio, GbLAN, IEEE1394a, USB3.0, SATA-III, RAID, 2 Gen2 PCIe, 1 PCIe X1, & 3 PCI
POWERSUPPLY: * 650 Watts - Corsair CMPSU-650TX 80 Plus Power Supply
VIDEO: ATI Radeon HD 5770 1GB GDDR5 16X PCIe Video Card

180 MOBO ASUS P6X58D-E
222 CPU i7 950
112 RAM Corsair Dominator TR3X6G1600C8D 8-8-8-24 1600MHz
60 CASE Cooler Master 690 II Advanced
52 PSU Corsair 750TX
=======
€626 No GPU

€195 GTX 470
====
€821 Sub-Total

Keep in mind I looked-up these prices in US dollars ($) and converted to Euros (€) so I am certain the prices will vary. Example your price on the i7 950 is €18 difference.

The (ONE) case I recommended if very good for the $ and offers great features and most importantly it has excellent airflow and ergonomics. :)

Are there better, sure but you'd need to double the cost. BTW - I have 10 of them... :)
