Dark video playback

I have my computer with ati 4850 connected to my 37" samsung hdtv, which I use as my monitor. I play all of my videos with vlc and my problem is when ever I open up a window while there is video playing the picture becomes very dark, is there anyway I can prevent this from happening?

try updating ur gpu drivers. vlc does behave like that sometimes. use mpclassic
