Help with Phenom11 X3 740 Upgrade

DDR3 RAM will probably only benefit you in a AM3 motherboard with only a few percent advantage at best (like perhaps a 5% advantage compared with DDR3 -1600 or a 3 % advantage with DDR3-1333.Myself I have a Phenom II X3 740 CPU in a Foxconn Cinema Premium AM3/AM2+/AM2 AMD 785G HDMI Micro ATX AMD Motherboard and am using some spare DDR2-800.I am quite satisfied with it.

You are holding your CPU back only slightly but it's not really cost effective for you to get a AM3 motherboard if your AM2+ motherboard is working fine.

If you decide to make the move to DDR3, wait a month or so and see what the AM3+ landscape may hold for you.

Your CPU will be compatible, and AM3+ will open up some interesting future possibilities for you.

Definitely wait it out for AMD's new offerings, or Sandy Bridge.

moving to ddr3 wont make u see any real time performance boost, wait till the new amd cpus come out or wait till intel ships there sandy bridge plateform thats been fixed,

the wait will be worth it
