Can you by any chance up your budget to $160? If so, you can get a Radeon 5770 :)

But, between those two, the 4850 is more powerful. Go for the 1GB versions over 512.

Both cards are good but HD4850 is a bit faster.
For that budget you can also get a HD5750 for ~130$.

But before suggesting a card I would like to know your complete system specs along with power supply and native monitor resolution(These things are necessary to determine which gfx card will suit you the best :)  ).

where is our super rodent-primate hero? I would personally go with the 4850. As far as 1GB or 512mb, the card can use 1GB but not as efficiently as higher performance cards so it should not be a deal breaker.

Man, for $130 skip the 4770 AND the 4850, and get the 5750! Its faster than both, uses less power than both, and supports DX11 and Eyefinity, which neither of the others do!

I've only just found this thread and that was thanks to ct1615 and as he says the 4850 is the better out of the two cards you've listed but as flyinfinni points out the 5750 is better than both for the most part as the 4850 matches it in some benchmarks and oddly enough actually betters it in a couple @ 16 x 10 but gets kicked in the face for all the rest as the res gets increased.

hey none of these 4770 and 4850 doesnt support DX11,Shader model 4.0,openGL 3.0 and mainly eyefinity

No, you are going to need a 5 series card if you are interested in those features.

Like I said- you can get the 5750 for ~$130 and is the best you can do for that budget. Spend another $20 and you can get the 5770.

For $130 US you might find it a bit hard to get an XFX 5750 but there is a Powercolour one for that amount, if it has to be an XFX card then you'd be looking at a 5670 or for another 10 bucks you would be able get a 5750.
March 8, 2010 4:24:19 PM

I would suggest you to go with Zotac GTS 250 1GB, pretty similar performance, much lower cost.
March 8, 2010 6:28:32 PM

im interested to go for zotac,powercolour........ i like to buy xfx only in radeon version, and i want prices of 5770,5750,4850,4770(xfx only). if possible give prices in indian rupees if not means USD.(cause im from india)

5770 = $165 = 7,498.75 INR

5750 = $140 = 6,360.12 INR

4850 = $130 = 5,905.36 INR

4770 = $115 = 5,223.98 INR

hey why shader clock will not come for ATI cards and also what is memory interface. memory interface for 5770 is 128-bit only,for gtx260 and other ati cards it has 256(4850,5670),448(260gtx). this will cause any performance difference.

graphic cards are like hot dogs, don't worry about how they make them just worry about how they taste...or the end result

the 5770 is faster then the other cards you listed

but to be frank, Nvidia and ATI go about making their cards differently with each series and model using different chips and RAM so comparing one card to another is best done using benchmarks rather then stats.

Ati cards do not tie the shader clocks to the GPU clocks like Nvidia cards do and the 5770 uses GDDR5 VRAM which is about twice the speed of GDDR3 VRAM so the 128 bit on the 5770 is the same as the 256 bit on the 4850 whereas due to the different architecture of Nvidia GPU's the 448 bit interface kind of works out the same maybe a slower. At the end of the day it matters not as any should work for you and I'm not the best at explaining it you for that you ought to ask TGGA.

I thought you you said earlier that you were getting the XFX one, either way I don't do the ATi cards myself so I couldn't say which ones better than the other as far makes go but I do like XFX cards and have had several of them.

Your PSU looks too weak for a new card.Zebby PSU aren't very good quality units,so I would suggest you to change that...

Also,I asked you to mention monitor's native resolution.:)

Unfortunately Prices are a little high here in India.

You get a 5770 for Rs9500
5750 for Rs 8000

4850 for Rs6000(Sweet deal)

But there is one very good thing, about which, I'll tell you soon in this thread only... :)
