No TCP

After reformatting the main drive while reinstalling XP, i am unable to get the ip addressing info to bind to my NIC (1394 net adapter. It retains the info in the properties, but does not show up in ipconfig. any help appreciated

goto network connections do you see 1394 adapter and then do you see local area connection?
also what kind of computer?
example, Dimension 3000, Compaq r3000, etc,

winxp home or pro?
what service pack?
press windows key+Break to bring up system properties if you not sure
