Please tell me this sound is normal

I have a new Seagate Barracuda XT 3TB hdd and is makes this hellish screeching sound as it spins up.

Audio starts with the sound of the switch followed by a beep, then the screech followed by what seems normal spin-up.

Soundcloud appears to be down. My immediate reaction is that you should RMA it. Hellish screeching should come from children, not hard drives.
