i'm planning on buying either the 9400GT which requires a 300watt power supply or a 9500GT which requires a 350 power supply. I prefer the 9500GT but i'm not sure if it will run on my power supply. can someone tell me if it could run the 9500GT?

9500GT will run on a good quality 300W PSU.

the power supply came stock with my HP desktop. I don't want to blow anything up or break anything :/ it says combined power will not exceed 300watts whatever that means.. tell me if theres anything else I need to inform you guys to see if it would work. thanks guys [:

Whats your whole system specs?
I'm running a 8600GT on a 300W HP PSU, which is essentially an 9500GT with a older manufacturing process that uses more power.

AMD 9650 quad core @ 2.30ghz
7GB ram
750GB HDD
geforce 9100 integrated graphics
HP 300watt power supply
its a HP pavilion p6157c PC

4GB of ram is enough for Windows 7 64-bit , gaming ...
But 7GB Ram (o_O') !?

can my 350 Watts Power Supply Hundle the Radeon HD 4770 512MB DDR5 without any problem or hardware risk ?

Reply to drax96

how did you end up with 7gb ram?
unless you have 4 slots, 3 of them running 2gb sticks and 1 running a 1gb stick. that will limit ur performace!, because with unequal ram sticks you cant run in dual channel mode.

How much are they?
Get the 9500GT, performs better than the 9400GT while using about the same power.

they are both 54-55 dollars I think

It should work well with a 300 W HP PSU :)
