Hey guys i am plannig to build a new budget gaming rig but i have a question AMD or Intel (for gaming only) ? As i am a big fan of Intel i wanted to go for Intel again but i am quite confused which is more future proof as i'll be using my rig for gaming only.I was going to buy i5 750 with a 1156 socket but it lacks triple channel and Multi GPU functionality (SLI or Crossfire with x16||x16) that again stops me of having the Intel's best socket.
Intel has introduced 1156 to actually eliminate its 775 socket as with a price of a Q9400 you can have a i5 750.So i am not sure if i go for 1156, Intel might introduce another socket to replace this one.Whereas AMD continues to use the same AM3 socket for the latest 6 core processors.I am using a XFX GTX 275 896 and a usually game at 1920x1080 so not much concerned about a GPU but for a CPU i am, as i have a intel Dual core with DDR 4GB that makes me outdated so i really need to upgrade my PC so as to play the upcoming titles, Because this 90nm piece on my 775 bottlenecks my XFX baby...!!!Help.....!!!
What resolution are you playing at and are you planning to overclock? If you are playing at high resolutions an athlon x 3 or an i3 shouldn't bottleneck the GTX 275 at lower resolutions the i5 or Phenom 965 would be better the p55 chipset can run 2 cards at 8X which should be OK if you got another GTX 275. The AM3 chipset will almost definately have a longer life than the 1156 though but I don't think any AM3s can run SLi only crossfire. The AM3 platfrom is much better value though.
I play at 1920x1080 and not interested in Overclocking nor doing an SLI or Crossfire, that can be an add on feature but thats not important as for that I need a 1336 socket and then it will not be a budget gaming rig...lol !!!
