89 watt to 125 watt cpu upgrade

im gonna upgrade my processor from 2.1 to 3.00 but my motherboard says "only processors under 89 watt power consumption" but the cpu i ordered was 125 watts... will it work?

It likely will IF your board supports that stepping. But you will be pushing your boards power regulation circuitry if you do.

What motherboard do you have and what CPU did your order? Often times when they say only CPUs up to 89W they will specifically in BIOS only support the model numbers that are under the appropriate wattage.

i have a emachines... the motherboard is "mcp61pm-gm" am2 socket and an "amd athlon 64 x2 4050e 2.1ghz"... i ordered "AMD Athlon 64 X2 6000+ 3.0GHz 2x1MB Socket am2 125w"...
