Shut down!?!

Hello,
I have a compaq laptop, the HD is 2 years old a replacement from the previous one. (Vista 32 bits, it has been running smoth pass 2 years)Now my issue is that the laptop keeps going on and off, it stays more time if is on safe mode otherwise it shuts down.
Is it a HD problem? or the fans? or others
Please advice.

Sounds like fans, get some canned air, and use that to get rid of some of the dust near the fans

get a laptop cooling pad. lets laptop exhaust hot air better

I agree with the fan. This 5 year old laptops since to go this way.
