What would cause these problems in skyrim? Harddrive slow

Its hard to explain but i cant determine if its my hard drive slowing down or what but basically I cant get skyrim to
run how it used too. This is what happened...

1. Skyrim is released, textures render slowly or not at all. FPS isnt the problem, but slow loading of textures is if
it makes sense. I uninstall.
(ex: Trees not rendering fast enough, objects not loading in right away, invisible walls.. notice the trees in the distance, imagine that everywhere within 2 feet away from you)

(1a. Key events would not trigger such as in the beginning of the game, horses on the carriage would get stuck in the wall. Anduin would not break through the keep and blow fire allowing you to jump out of that hole. The guy who escorts you would just stand there. Basically scripts would not play out.

2. Time passes, played games like hunted: the demons forge, borderlands 1 & 2, world of warcraft, starcraft 2, and a few others i cant remember.

3. Skyrim has received a few updates so download and install the latest skyrim updates. To my surprise it actually
works. No slow rendering objects like in the screenshots or anything. I did have FPS issues though this time around so i lowered the graphics, installed some fps boosting mods and it worked like a charm. I did nothing but the usual
updating my gcard whenever and just generally using my comp. Nothing major was added or anything.

4. The Walking Dead game finished its last chapter. Been waiting to play it when all the chapters were done so i get
around to installing it. Mid installation i get a blue screen of death.

5. Computer resets right away.. thinking back it was a dumb move on my part but i NEVER got blue screens on this comp, that was the very first one so i think nothing of it and reinstall The Walking Dead.

6. Game installs, played it, finished it in one sitting. Turned off the comp and went to bed.

7. Next day windows took longer to load. Mouse was skipping whenever id move it like every 5 seconds literally. Checked task manager and noticed my cpu was literally hitting 100% then 4% then 100% then 4% for a good while. It stopped after like 10 minutes and instead of 100% it would hit like 50%-ish.

8. For kicks i decided to try skyrim and it was back to how it was in the beginning. Those screenshots i posted above
but worse. All my mods and everything didnt seem to matter anymore its like after that blue screen everything just got slower.

(8a. I had a spare sata drive that came with this comp. It had windows 7 on it so i switched to that and transfered
skyrim from this old hard drive (ata) thinking it would work. Sure enough this sata drive worked and so did skyrim, no
lag or render problems. Played for a bit and turned it off.

(8b. Next morning i remembered i had bookmarks i wanted transferred from the old ata drive onto my sata drive. Plugged in the ata drive to do the transfer and booted up and i noticed my sata drive isnt being detected anymore. After HOURS of guide lookups and possible remedies my comp bios will NOT detect my sata drive anymore. Changed wires and everything, no luck. That sata just does not turn on anymore.

(8c. Back to the ata drive.

9. Thinking its a virus, i reformated my drive. Windows xp pro, everything works like a charm initially but windows still takes long to load. No mouse problems anymore. I update my comp, graphics card, direct x, basically reinstall everything including skyrim.

10. Sure enough, skyrim fully updated with dawnguard and hearthfire is back to square one. Key events not triggering, textures not rendering, but fps is fine. Long load times and sometimes 5 minute initial startups.

11. After messing around with fps booster mods again i finally got it to load a tiny bit faster. In the screen shot,
trees are further away in their "low rez" state. When i get close i get a skip/stutter and it loads in now but further
away so i guess its a minor improvement but still horrible when i do manage to get close to one or run into an
invisible wall or missing npc. It gets worse over time.

13. Im not sure when but somehow my sound turned off. Thinking my comp was muted, nope. The speakers for some reason do not play sound anymore. My headphones work though so the headphone jack seems fine but as for sound without headphones it does not work. Sound drivers update included. Double checked default playing device and everything is how it was before just no sound. So now my speakers are gone :(

So here i am at a loss. I usually never post on forums for help but i cant figure this out. Is it a ram issue or hdd
issue or what? Power surge maybe? Its weird that skyrim would suffer like that after the blue screen and then shortly after reformatting my speakers stop working along with skyrim. Sound was working after the reformat just one day i was browsing the net and noticed no sound was coming from a video i was watching and thats when i realized the speakers are dead.

Any help would be greatly appreciated. Even a for sure answer as to what happened would be awesome.

Windows XP Pro service pack 3
Pentium[R] 4 CPU 3.20ghz
2.62 GB of ram
nvidia 8600 gt.

If you want more specs this is my comp i bought like 2 years ago:

Its sata drive is the one that crashed, this ata drive thats experiencing problems belonged to another computer.
I know its an old computer, yes i want to get another one, and no i cannot afford it at the moment.

By all means if you can link me a cheap harddrive with even 80gb for under 40$ and ill gladly buy it. All i ever find is 80$ and up drives that i cant afford right now so im trying to remedy this drive as best as possible.

EDIT: i just realized there is a gaming section, sorry about that.

You have a VERY slow computer for Skyrim. Don't expect it to run well at all, even at Low settings.

You need to upgrade your system. A used dual-core system with a usable gaming video card should be about $150-200. Make sure the CPU is over 2.5 gig, the older dual core systems won't be able to run Skyrim well.

You can't do anything to fix your issues without upgrading.

Any reason why skyrim would run really good pre bluescreen and not after?
and can you link me one of those used $200 gaming systems i could never fine a useable one for that cheap.

I don't know what you mean by "really good", your system does not even meet the minimum specs the developer lists to run it.

You need to look at local ads for a used system. Try craigslist. You won't get a true gaming system for $200, even used, but can get a nice lower end one with a Radeon 5770 or a card in that class.

By really good i mean smooth lag/problem free gameplay. As far as i know minimum requirements arent the actual minimum unless a dual core is utilized and you have a one core (like orcs must die)

Thanks i never thought about craigslist ill give it a shot.
