I currently have a q6600 with 8gb ddr2 1066, I was thinking of upgrading to a phenom 1055t, but stick with a ddr2 board, Will I take a performance hit from using ddr2 on a am2+ board.

Will you take a performance hit? yes.
Will it be noticeable? Unless you like taking benchmarks on your system all day long or used memory bandwidth sensitive programs (like cad) , i doubt you'll notice the performance hit.
Overall, you'll be fine with a phenom ii x6 with ddr2 ram.
By the way, I know the core I-7's are better performers, and I don't really need a 6 core phenom 2, but it's what I want, that being said the phenom 2 6 core choice is etcehd in stone for me.
