5850 ~ $300
5870 ~ $400
GTX285 ~ $350
4890 ~ $200
GTX275 ~ $250

2x 5850s for $600 USD equals 2x GTX285s for $700 (AA on/off)
2x 5870s for $800 USD defeats 2x GTX285s for $700 USD
Thus by the transitive property, 3x 5850s for $900 equals 3x GTX285s for $1050 (AA on/off)

Also take into account the 5x00's:
1. dx11 support
2. lower power consumption, 40nm tech
3. less heat output, more silent fans
4. eyefinity, triple monitor support

2x 4890s for $400 performs the same as or even slightly better than 2x GTX275s for $500

Didn't we already know this? Anyways I hope this will help lead people in the right direction in buying graphics cards. Also in theory 3x 5850's equals 3x gtx285's , but in real life which card scales better?

im not entirely sure what you are trying to accomplish by re-posting old graphs we've seen before.

this doesn't say anything about the cards, as the graphs are for a single, nvidia skewed, game.

Apparently some people still don't.

Have you read some of the other topics in the graphics section so far? O_o

I have been just ignoring the threads involving this.
And this is the right answer.

Exactly, but right now in the current market there is 0% reason to get it over an ATI card unless you just want to be a fanboi. Its old tech, and the "fermi" is supposedly coming out at the end of this month. Why pay more for worse imo.

trying to talk sense to fanbois?

like i said, waste of time....

doesn't really matter how obvious you make the facts, and how strongly they prove the point, since people still won't listen.

Too bad you are 100% right. If we could get to them with logic a lot of problems will be resolved.

I just checked the threads that mprya started :o  . If that guys is NOT trolling then he has some serious logic problems.

Why am I seeing the HD5850 beating the GTX285 in all benchmarks.

The HD4890 on-par with the GTX285.

You're making no sense.

Either way, let's not combat trolling with trolling.

I know it's sometimes frustrating, but you can't reason with someone that's trolling. Money says they are doing it just to get a response, and you're better than that BSD.

No, he sparked my curiousity. Unless the entire first post is sarcasm, then the OP is an idiot.

You're making no sense.

1. No sh*t sherlock, I'm only talking about Crysis though. If you're wondering why I'm only talking about Crysis, go read some other threads in the GPU section.
2. You mean the 4890 is equal to the GTX275 overall. The GTX285 is a good tier above both the GTX275 and the 4890.

It's pretty obvious you haven't been paying attention to other posts in the GPU section.

Excuse me? I've been reading daily, and from the charts you've posted, you've contradicted yourself. Clarify.

1. How am I contradicting myself? I'm bringing up the issue of the 5850 equaling the GTX285 in Crysis in terms of raw power, while being cheaper and offering more features. I also said the 5870 is a bit more costly, but better, while offering the same features as the 5850.

Everything I've posted thus far has been true. List an example of where I am contradicting myself.

2. Read: http://www.tomshardware.com/forum/283430-33-proof-gtx28... or any posts by the same guy. (there's plenty of them talking about the same thing in both the CPU and GPU sections)

I wouldn't call a 20%+ Increase all around "Equal". But I suppose that's perspective.

And the HD4890 is as powerful as the GTX285.

Also, I've read that Crysis is an nVidian-optimized game, and it shows through SLI scaling (unless that's completely driver-related?). An ATI crossfire gets a 50% increase, whereas the nVidian route gets nearly 90%.
