deactivate 4 cores

More about deactivate cores
  1. Why do you want to do that???
  2. you can do it through the BIOS though
  3. Should have bought a cheaper processor then. I don't see the point in paying for more cores just to deactivate them.
  4. You may disable hyper-threading in the BIOS for Intel. Same for AMD in shutting down half a 'module'

You should check your individual mobo manual for specific instructions.
  5. It can be done in the bios but I do not see any reason what so ever to even do it. I had a AMD FX-8120 and FX-8350 and never found any reason to ever cripple my CPU in that way.
  6. ** I don't see the point in paying for more cores just to deactivate them**
Could be isolating the stronger cores/modules for an extreme clocking session
