Graphics card for heavy video editing

I am building a new video editing machine and trying to decide on a video card. I find choosing a video card very confusing really.

Anyhow I have these two suggestions right now

ATI 100-505553 FirePro V5700 512MB PCI Express 2.0 x16
GeForce GTX 260 Core 216 896MB 448-bit GDDR3 PCI Express 2.0 x16

any thoughts on those? Will I see an improved performance using Adobe After Effects with the ATI card?

If you use CS4 versions of Adobe software, you will see gains no matter which brand (nVidia or ATI) you choose. It all depends on the specs of the card, and its OpenGL performance.

Of course, the workstation card is better for doing 3D models which require heavy vertex and pixel computations that normal mainstream or "gaming" cards have less power to do. I'm not sure if AE and Premiere benefit from using a workstation card. There must be others here who know better.
