Asus motherboard and SATA controller

I wonder if anyone can help me... I posted this somewhere else, but that may have been the wrong forum.

I bought a PCI Sata controller card (VT-6421) for my asus m4a785td motherboard.

However, my pc won't recognise the sata controller card at all.

Not showing in device manager, or BIOS. And the new hardware wizard didn't initiate.

I tried to install the drivers, but it reported that the device couldn't be found.

I have win7 64 bit. I'm not setting up a RAID configuration incidentally.

I've connected a sata HDD to test and set the speed via jumpers correctly so I can't figure out why it's not working.

Does anyone have any suggestions?

Sounds like a defective card if the system doesn't even indicate an unknown device in your Device Manager. Do you have another system you could try to install it in to verify whether the card works or not? If not, I would RMA the SATA card and try another. Good luck!

I think you may be right.

I'm trying to connect an xbox 360 dvd drive.

However, I have read that the AMD SB710 onboard sata also does the trick, so I think I will try that.

Thanks for the reply.
