My P7P55D-E PRO says it doesn't see the hard drive when it boots.

I build a PC for my dad and right away at boot up the screen says no hard drive is detected. I know it is detecting a hard drive because it goes through the rest of the boot and then you can use the computer and windows starts and all of his programs are there. So not sure why it says it can't detect the hard drive but then I can still use it. I bought almost all the same parts for my PC and it is doing the same thing.

I don't believe it is the hard drive because they are different brands and sizes and everything. I think I just have the hard drive plugged in to the wrong spot. Although not wrong enough to stop it from working.

It isn't the end of the world but is very annoying that my day old PC is already giving me an error and would like to figure out the problem. If you have any ideas I would appreciate the help.

The motherboard is P7P55D-E PRO and our hard drives are both sata.

I have the same motherboard and the same message and i think it means it doesnt detect a IDE (ATA) disk. ... which is weird cause SATA disks have been here for ages.

This is the only solution i came up with.

if you are not using PATA drives, try disabling them...make sure that CD is first in boot order and HD is second

You need to disable the Marvell Storage Controller in your BIOS, which will stop this error message.

Here is what you need to do...

For an ASUS P7P55D-E Pro: You go to the "Advance Menu" options, select "Onboard Devices Configuration" and disable the "Marvell SATA Controller"... Pages 3-35 & 3-26 of the manual.
