I've just bought a DVD/CD-RW drive (Toshiba SD-R2212) that came from a
Toshiba Satellite 1900, anyone know how to remove the front bezel as I
can't see any clips or screws or how it comes off. I want to replace it
with one that fits my Satellite Pro 2100.

There are clips, they are somewhat (but not totally) hidden, it's not
always easy to do this without breaking things. Also, it's possible
that your old bezel won't fit the new drive that you intend to replace
it with.

One clip is at the extreme rear edge of the drive "door", on the bottom.
I believe that there is also one at the other edge, which was also
plainly visible on close exam, and one near the center that was
invisible but that released easily after the end two had been released.

There are three clips on the Toshiba laptop drives, but you can't see them!
Just pull the bezel off straight (maybe working from one side to the
other) - it won't need much force and shouldn't damage anything.

Please be aware that Toshiba CD read-only drives (i.e. not DVD, combo or
DVD-RW drives) have their clips in a different place so their bezels will
not transfer to the other types of drives!

Your suggestion will break the drives that I've been working with
(Toshiba "combo" laptop drives, SD-R2xxx series).

You must be doing it wrong. The method works on every Toshiba laptop drive
I've seen, from CD only up to DVD-RW.

Yep, there's no problem removing/replacing the faceplate on almost
any notebook optical (i.e. CD/CD-RW/DVD+CD-RW/DVD±RW) drive.

I've done it quite a few times - Tosh SD-R6112, Sony DW-U50A,
Teac DV-W24E and just a few days ago, LiteOn SDW-431S.
First one came built-in with the lappy, others were replacements.
The last one - LiteOn - is absolutely brilliant BTW, and surprisingly
inexpensive too :) ... unlike the horrible noisy one from Teac.
