Hello,
I've got an Acer 230XC laptop it works fine for me, but I am concerned about
processor fan which is nearly always on even though I have laptop elevated
2".
I recently replaced my desktop fan which was fairly easy but accessing the
internals of a laptop to replace a fan would be another matter even if I
could get hold of the part.
Returning to Acer would not be an option because of the comments I have read
on newsgroups about standard of service, repairs etc.
The fan is OK at the moment but I just wondered how long I can expect an
average laptop fan to last. I use the laptop about 4 hours each day.

Depends on how much you use it. I have a three year old Toshiba p3
and a probably 5 year old Toshiba p2 machine, both with original fans
doing fine. We don't use them more than a few hours a week at most.
If you plan on using a laptop as a desktop replacement, replacing the
fan may well be part of the higher price tag.
