Better late then never .. Need Video Card?

Well, this started as just a quick fix upgrade... evolved to a full blown system build.

CPU : AMD Phenom II X3 Triple-Core Processor 720 Black Edition Boxed ($99)
MOBO: Gigabyte GA-MA785GMT-UD2 AM3 785G mATX ($40)
Memory: Crucial Ballistix 4GB (2 x 2GB) 240-Pin DDR3 SDRAM DDR3 1600 (PC3 12800) ($107)]
SSD: OCZ Agility Series OCZSSD2-1AGT60G 2.5" 60GB SATA II MLC ($125)]
PSU: CORSAIR CMPSU-400CX 400W ATX12V V2.2 80 PLUS ($35)]
Case: NZXT M59 - 001BK Black Steel ATX Mid Tower ($40)]

Edit: dang I knew I would forget something, will be doing a fresh win 7 install 64bit I think.
Uses -- mostly web surfing and bumming around, probably video editing. I usually have firefox & chrome running lots of tabs (30 - 50)

Probably reusing a 17" LCD, will also carry a 0.5TB drive for data storage over from old build.
1) Is this thing going to work when I put it togeather?
2) How'd I do in balancing the system (whats the weak link)?
3) Do I need a video card? if so what - does the hyper-crossfire work well?

More about better late video card
  1. Hybrid crossfire is pretty much useless, its only useful back on the low end 3xxx series.

What do you play on using the system for? If you intend to game then you will need a discrete video card, if you just intend to do basic browsing then the IGP on the 785G is more than enough. If you list your uses we can help you sort out what you need. I dont see any weak links in that build bit but it might be too much or too little depending on your needs.
  2. Thanks... was shooting for to much.. really want fast boot up and just don't want delays.
  3. A cheapo $50 video card will serve you needs at that resolution....certainly no more than $80,2569-2.html
