Dual Opteron 280 system fare against today's CPU's for gaming? Tags: CPUs Last response: June 7, 2010 11:30 AM in CPUs Share DMH42 June 7, 2010 8:51:04 AM Hi There . I'm about to be given an older HP server. Going to find a m/board with PCIe support (this only has PCI-X) and move the dual Opty 280's and 16Gb of ECC RAM over. I've been outta the game forever (my PC is an Athlon XP 2000+!!!) But ready to come charging back in.. errm well somewhat - I'm assuming it would come in around upper entry-level vs today's rigs? Any thoughts/insights? Could you perhaps also recommend a PCIe card that would complement such a system - that is, I'm sure many of today's cards are overkill. Thankyou! I'd recommend selling the server and buying gaming rig parts with the money made. Can't find your answer ? Ask ! Publish Related resources Dual Opterons or Single FX for Gaming System?
