I have a biostar TF570 SLI A2+ that had a amd 64x2 cpu that I upgraded to a amd 9750 x4, sys wouldn’t boot with new cpu so I reinstalled my orig cpu and it wont boot with that either, reset cmos and now I get a tone that oem says no mem detected or installed. Never touched the mem, is my cpu shot or my mem shot?

the new cpu is on my mobo's support list but it is the higest cpu it says the board supports, also it is the 2nd cpu i tried, used a 9650 the first time, thought i had a bad cpu and it was replaced by the seller for a 9750, and the first time when i tried the 9650 i just put my orig cpu back in and it lit up no prob

just found out that the cpu the seller replaced is a 125 watt vs 95 9750vs 9650 and my mobo is a 95 watt board, so did i fry the mem? or the board as i said my board is giving tone of no mem installed

Can you get into bios? If not...

Take the memory out, power on the board, then off, then put the ram back in. Maybe reset in the process of doing that. Do the same process with the CPU also, if the ram didn't work. Sounds like the motherboard either detected something wrong or set something wrong or just went koo-put and decided its time is over.

Since you added a reply while I was typing this.. here is a response to the 2nd part:
Yes, you probably fried something. I'd call them up and see what can be done about this :fou:

You can't run a 125w cpu on a 95w limited motherboard, you may have fried something. The seller should have checked that the cpu is supported by your mobo before selling it to you.

http://www.biostar.com.tw/app/en/t-series/cpu_support.php?S_ID=304

As you can see in the chart, there are no 125w cpu's listed.

Off the subject though, you don't want a 9650/9750, they are complete junk.

For about $100 we could hook you up with a new cpu/mobo combo that would perform better.

Let us know your complete system specs and what you use the computer for and we can make a suggestion for you.
that sounds good, i use it as a media center pc, music movies, etc, some web stuff, but i usually run multiple apps and put it thru its paces, i am have dual geoforce 8600 vid cards, dont use both but would also like the same type of mobo, as far as # of sata conn's (running 2 ide dev and 7 sata's)
yeah the guy screwed up, i have been strictly a intel guy and this is my first foray into amd, i'm getting a err msg from the mobo that says mem is not installed, so i am hoping that i only fried the mem, gonna pick up a stick of ddr2 and find out, send me info on the boards/cpu's your talking about, thanks

Well I didn't know you needed a crossfire motherboard, or do you? I mean 8600 is low end, even two of them is low end.

Id suggest if you need something more powerful than 1 you should just get a new video card.

Do you live near a Microcenter? This is a great deal, quad core and a free mobo.

no i am in washington state, and didnt see one listed, the link worked but i didnt see a free mobo, i bought this system for 250 bucks from a kid gamer by the looks of it, good vid cards but i only use one anyway

The jumper connects the card so they work as one.

What is your budget for a new cpu/mobo?
100 for sure, 150 for the right mobo/cpu/mem ? combo
quad core for sure, ddr2 1066 min on the mem say up to ddr3 1600 or so should be fast enuff
your link just takes me to the main page, what are the specs / model num of the 1 cent mobo?
thanks for all your help, i could hate the guy who sold me the cpu but i bought the 9650 and it wouldnt lite, so for a swap i said ohhh how bout a 9750 (not knowing it was a 125 watt cpu, now i did know you cant run a 125 cpu on a 95w board) but he shoulda caught the 125w issue as i sent him specs before i bought the first cpu and when the first didnt work he asked for my specs a 2nd time so he thought he was being nice by sending the 9750........grrrrr

The link works fine for me, not sure why it doesn't work for you. If your not near a microcenter, what's the point of checking out the free mobo?

Let me get this right, you want 2gb ddr2, a quad core cpu, and a motherboard for $150? Can't do it. Your looking at $100 for the cpu alone.

uhh you told me there was a board for a penny, i have ddr 2 mem and when i wrote that i specificly put
board/cpu/mem(?) with a question mark on the mem
YOU told me for a hundred bucks you could hook me up with a board cpu combo, it's almost the middle of the month thats why i said a hundred for sure and 150 on the outside, begining of the month diff story, hell i dont know why the link dont work, all it does is take me to the main page with NOTHING IN THE CART, what more do you want from me??
i picked up the quad core 9750 for 60 bucks off ebay (i know you said there garbage but you never said why or what kind of chip i should be looking for, i picked up a tf570 sli for 20 bucks off ebay yesterday (i had a tf570sli a+) only diff is the a+ supports quad cores
if you want to help help if not thanks for your time, and you have still yet to tell me the sku or make and model num of the penny mobo (its called shipping, they do do that now that its the 21st century. right?

The link is a dead end though...Tigersdirect.com can hook you up, your're gonna be hard pressed to find a combo for that amount even $150.00..hold-up I'll do the finger work and see what I can scrape up for $150.00....Stand-by

then tell me "i can get you a cpu/mobo for 100' and then tell me it's not poss? all i gave him was a list of what i'd like to have, and what i could spend right now, that's all, just wanted answers not drag stuff out

thanks for the links, for the money think i'd go with the phenom II, been an intel guy so amd is kinda new to me, i like the board, but can wait to get one a little higher up (i need at least 6 sata conns) i'm (was) running a tf570sli A+ dual geof 8600 2 ide dev's and 6 sata's, 2 exp cards, all i wanted to do was upgrade from a dual core 4000+ to a 9650 quad, and ended up with a 9750 that fried my mobo, i knew i couldnt run a 125 watt cpu in a 95w board just didnt know the 9750 was 125w (9650 yeah 95 w) soooo here i am, thanks!

Sempron is OK, Athlon is better, Phenom is good, Athlon II is a new socket type i.e. AM3, Phenom II is the best...The good thing is most these will fit on the same board as opposed to changing boards everytime you want to upgrade..Thats my $0.02 worth on it

I would go with the Phenom II X4 940 without having to update BIOS...if I was gonna update the BIOS I would go with the Phenom II X6 1090t but I think that is outside of your budget a bit

ok then that is what i will do i will go ahead and get the board and then that cpu asap or vice versa, i just needed to get back up and running that's why i was on such a tight budget, soon as next month hits it wont be so tight. what is the between the 940 vs 1090 other than 4 core vs 6 core? i dont know that i really need 6 core (course it would be nice) the 'computer junkie' in me always wants the most....
