Hello all,
My girlfriend is having a sudden problem with her PC and I'm trying to help her out.
When she powers up her computer, the LEDs on the case come on, but then the computer fails to boot. Absolutely nothing happens. There is no "boot up noise", no beeping, the case fans don't even come on. The monitor will turn on but just give this "no input" message as if it wasn't plugged in. Obviously some hardware has failed, but I'm not very tech savvy and Im not sure what to look at first. I thought the PSU would be likely, because the fans don't come on and it doesn't even try to boot up. BUT, the LEDs on the case do come on, so there is some power getting in there.
As far as Hardware, she has an older hand-me-down system that she says has a Pentium 4, Windows 7, and a 450watt RealPCPower(?) PSU. I would give more information if I could but I haven't seen the thing yet.
Any ideas on how to test the PSU or what else to look for would be awesome.
Thanks all.
