Overclocked for the first time. Minor overclock 3770k 4.2GHz

I finally decided grow a pair and overclock my main PC. I read up on overclocking and decided I just wanted a conservative overclock. I think I may have been bitten by the OC bug, I started out with a 4 GHz clock, and I have slowly been convincing myself to raise it over the past few hours.

I find it amazing that at a completely stock clock, the CPU ran at 58c. With a .7 GHz overclock, it only runs 5c hotter.

Here is a link to my HW info after a stress test.

I decided to keep the clock quite conservative. At 1.2v the cpu temps get to the 70* mark, and the Tcase of the CPU is 67.4*c

  1. Are you using an aftermarket cooler? Just keep the load temps below 80C and your CPU should last for a very long time.

    Yes, I am using a HAVIK 140.

I was able to get to 4.4 GHz and my temps top out at 70*.
