Flash drive to hard drive

Hello,
I have an apple mac lap top + an external hard drive,suitable for the mac.How do I transfer images,photographic,from my flash drive to the external hard drive.I am fairly new to computing so excuse an elementary question! Also, if i need to transfer images to a flash drive,how is this done please?

not very helpful to a new comer. Is this the way Toms works? A complete disregard for the aspirations of a novice. With smart arse answers like this I don't think I need to know any more from you again!.

Excuse me Chris, but what kind of difficulties you face to copy files from your USB flash drive to your external HD? Maybe you have only one USB port? This is your problem? If this is the case, then copy your files first to your internal HD, then copy them to your external.
