Video editing speed

I have a home built E8400 3.0/2.98 GHz,3.25 RAM,2 screen,NVIDIA Ge
Force 8500 GT, 500 G & 1TB hard drives, running Vegas Pro 8. having trouble syncing the video to audio because in the editing process, playing clips in the timeline, the video is too jumpy to easily match them. can i speed up the video by changing the cache settings?

Maybe, but cache for the video card can't be tuned by the user. If ou want to edit video I would recommend a card with a little more muscle. Nvidia uses TurboCache to use the system RAM with the video card to artificially be better.
