Windows XP as said above if you want to keep into windows domain.. But with dying support, i'd recommend try ubuntu..

I agree with XP. If you own a legit copy I would try searching for a version called "performance edition" which takes out all the BS that is loaded with XP. My version was ~ 200 megabytes and loads like no other.

I recommend you to increase the amount of memory. Your computer will run smother.

-Are you used to current OS/user interface right now?
-What tasks do you want to perform with the computer? What will you be doing with it?
-How computer-technical are you?

Without the answers to your questions, it is more than likely that you will be better off with windows XP in most circumstances.

Windows XP is the best choice, and it is colorful. I recently upgraded from a 3 ghz celeron, and I dual booted with XP and Win2000. Windows 2000 runs a little bit snappier on old systems, but XP is much more pleasing to the eye.
