Pals,
I want to buy a graphic card.
What would be better Gt240 or Gts250.
I don't think really ATi is a competitor coz software companies r more concentrated on Nvidia and the support is better than ATi!!!!
If you think Ati is an option give me a small comparison with the selection from nvidia!!!
Guys,help me out......
I transcode videos and play most of the availabe games on the market.....I don't need higher resolution.....
My budget is clear with the above choice!!!

there are not many games that support directx 10.1 and the difference between 10.1 and 10 are minimal they are mostly related to anisotropic filtering and anti aliasing performance. If you are interested in diretx you would be better of getting a radeon hd 5750 or a 5770 they support directx 11.

nVidia does not have anything to compete with ATI now. The 5xxx generation has:

DX11 capability, Eyefinity, low power consumption, low noise output.

Check this out:
http://www.techpowerup.com/reviews/ATI/Radeon_HD_5870/30.html

You will see that the ATI cards are the best in their price range. Check some benchmarks and you will see ATI beating nVidia in nVidia supported games. Go for the 5770.

If he decides to upgrade better he upgrades to current generation not the older one. 5770 is the way to go.

Guys,
Thanks for your replies.....Really...
But it's getting a real confusing here
Gt 240 Or Gts 250 Or HD 5750.....Anything else in this price range you wanna suggest??....
I'm buying this from my saved money and wouldn't be changing the graphic card for later 2 yrs(appro) or more.

I'm in real dilemma....

I wanna choose the one which is the latest and supports the most and is fast enough!!!!
I might be demanding more from such a small amount but the competitors can be throughly dissected and I might find the right product I need.....

I've been saving from a long time,I don't want the money to go a bit UN-utilized.
I don't wanna regret later that I had another product in the same range, better than the one I have and I didn't give it a shot.

Help......!!!!(I wish I could call 911 and get this sorted out)

Hm...
I've thought on HD 5750 but it's core clock speed and memory clock speed is less than GTS 250...

Umm forget about HD5750 and GTS 250...

And also GT 240 as it is slower than the rest

I'm making it simple for you:

If you have enough money then get a HD5770 for ~150$:
http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16814102873&cm_re=HD_5770-_-14-102-873-_-Product

Otherwise consider the HD4850 for 95$
http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16814102824&cm_re=hd_4850-_-14-102-824-_-Product&nm_mc=AFC-C8Junction&cm_mmc=AFC-C8Junction-_-RSSDailyDeals-_-na-_-na&AID=10521304&PID=3463938&SID=

GTS 250 and HD5750 are comparable tin performance to a HD4850.
Since you're on a budget then getting a HD4850 over the other two is a very good idea(Save the remaining money for the next upgrade :) )

Here is a review that compares HD 5770 with GTS 250 and 5750.
(HD4850 missing but consider its performance same as 250)

Now you have to decide which card you wanna get according to price and performance.

BTW Can you tell where you live?

Dude,
Thanks for your recommendations......
But even it's true that as companied release new products, they are released keeping in mind that they are better than previous versions.....
And even 5770 is just ahead of my budget......

Just a thing, what I've researched from the available data on sites
HD 5750/Gts 240-

Areas Where GTS 250 is good-
Die size-170/324-240
Core clock speed-700/738
Memory clock speed-1150/2200(That's twice)
Texture(Gt/s)-25.2/47.232(Again Twice)
Pixel(Gp/s)-11.2/11.808
Bus width-128/256

Areas where Hd 5750 is good
Pcie-2.1/2.0
Memory bandwidth-73.6/70.4 GB/S
Open cl-1.0/-
GFlops-1008/705
Shader Model-5.0/4.0
Accelerated Video Trans-coding on HD5750!!!!

I live in India,Mumbai,Virar......
You?

You shouldn't get hung up on spec's. It's the performance that matters. The architectures of the two brands are different, and specs will mean little when comparing. Look at benchmarks, those tell the real story, that and the features (physX vs directx11, 3d vision vs eyefinity).

Check out the gaming performance benchmarks to get an idea of how they compare: http://www.tomshardware.com/reviews/radeon-hd-5770,2446-7.html

Dude,
You should have told this earlier.
Cuz prices vary according to where you live.
(And I was quoting Awesome deals on Newegg  )

Please mention what is your budget exactly in Rupees.

HD5750 is Rs2000 more than GTS 250 and HD4850.
And HD4850 and GTS 250 are same price in India(There is big difference in price in US).

Get the HD4850/GTS 250 for Rs6000-6500 as HD5770 is out of your budget :)
