Hi just recently purchased a AMD phenom x4 9650 4MB l2 + l3 @ 2.3 GHz I was wandering is this a "good" CPU? I have 4Gigs of DDR2 RAM a 9800GTX+ is this a "decent" set up? this is my first build and i only spent 758$ 99$ quad core 84.99$ 9800GTX+ most expensive item was my monitor

So all in all is this CPU well rounded? I ONLY play COD4 and MW2 on this computer. Any opinions would be appreciated thank you!

For your system, it'll be just fine, everything is balanced. However on personal experience, my Phenom II x2 550 BE which cost 2 dollars less, performed just as well at games at stock performance than my Phenom x4 9600. When OC'ed to 3.6 Ghz, it outperformed my phenom at 2.3 Ghz. Also the Phenom II x2 550 BE, has an unlockable processor that turns into a quad core, if your lucky.

I'm not sure if the MSI motherboard supports it, but the most stable overclocking software I've used for locked processors is TurboV. Its just a suggestion, but at 2.3Ghz, you will experience a small and negligble cpu bottleneck which can be corrected through surgery percision and many failed attempts at overclocking. Its amazing how even 100 mhz can speed up your computer. You can test out the difference by running 3D Mark Vantage.
Good luck with your new computer!

well with the PM i sent you, my GPU is kickin out 91 STABLE fps on COD4 on all maxed out and i could go over 200 stable but i dont want to over heat so i lock my COD4 to 91 fps (screen refresh is at 75mhz) but none the less i think my build is pretty solid i haven't felt anything wrong with it yet.

That build is great but for gaming, in most games, more than 3 cores will not be used. For the same price I would have gone with the Athlon IIx4 440 at 3.0GHz. But you did get a good deal on that CPU and it's a B3 stepping so you avoided the TLB bug in the original phenoms.
