Hi guys..
Long time no post.. :)

Ok.. so I have compleatly maxed out my laptop...

It has been running fine for 3 months, then last night...the screen went black and it froze up..
so I rebooted it, and now the screen is black and it keeps rebooting itself every 15/20 seconds.
all the lights come on (power, mouse pad, num lock, scr lock), I here the system fan come on and
the HDD start to run...I was wondering what the general consense here could be.

nothing has changed as far as what it is being used for, It is well taken care of and not abused.
no water, coffiee, being droped, slammed around.. nothing.

Thanks.

This is a Compaq Presario F730US

Hi.

You can do a simple test, if you can connect the laptop to an external monitor (LC, CRT, LED) and you get the same problem, return the laptop because the onboard video has a problem. If you don't get the same problem, return it too, this timer because the screen has a problem.

thank you for responding so quickly Saint..

because this is a compaq presario F730US and it was bought in 2008, I have no warrenty....also the fact that the video chip is built in..
I think your right...I probley just need a new motherboard...because of the rebooting issue...

now for the next question...which I have repeatedly ask for advice on before but noone responded to me...

there are 2 replacement motherboards for this laptop..
One has the Geforce Go 6100 video chip, and the other one has the GeForce 7000M video chip...
which one is the better chip?

ok...I see the diffrence in PCI-Express 1 x16, 2x1 vs PCI-Express 1 x16, 4 x1
and USB ports 8 vs USB ports 10, but nothing is diffrent on the SATA/PATA ports?
I don't really know what these numbers mean....
I don't understand 10 usb ports? my laptop only has 2?

I was looking at the clock speeds...

umm....are you reading the same thing I am...

NVIDIA GeForce Go 6100 Graphics clock 425 MHz....

NVIDIA GeForce 7000M Graphics clock 350 MHz....

how are they the same??

 Sorry, looks like we are reading different specs. You are right, the 6100 has better specs in this case.
