5770 Running SC 2 Beta 1920x1080 Ultra --> Lag?

I have:
i7-920 @ stock speed on turbo with HT on,
750w Corsair PSU
6gb ocz 7-7-7-20 ram
Asus P6T
Velociraptor WD3000HFLS
1x 5770
Windows 7 x64

I was testing SC2 beta with everything maxed and I was lagging while dragging screen over cliffs? How is that possible @_@ I read on some forums people with a 5770 saying it's smooth with everything maxed, I'm puzzled! any outputs? @_@

Since its number 2 I think Blizzard would up the quality on mostly everything. Try lowering the AA a little and switch from Ultra high to just high.

I agree thats a problem--You shouldnt have to turn any graphics down to play starcraft II with a 5770. Starcraft II isnt that graphically intense of a game.

Its probably the beta version or the relatively new ATI driver... nothing that's in your control...

There is no bottleneck here, at least not with Starcraft 2. Even a 8800 can max that game out with a C2Q (core 2 quad).

@Original poster: There is definitely nothing wrong with the drivers or star craft 2 beta so that suggests something may be wrong with your system: Perhaps bad hardware, or just saturated drivers.

Similar specs to your system, i7 920 stock, HD 5770 and 6gb of ddr3 ram (however the one on the video is 1600, idk what yours is at)

I would recommend uninstalling your GPU drivers, and running driversweeper in safemode then reinstalling the latest drivers.
If you don't see the lag issue go away, I would recommend running 3dmark06 or 3dmarkvantage and comparing your GPU scores to other known HD 5770 scores. Make sure to use the lowest preset on the 3dmark software, as that is the one most people use.

I did RMA the 5770 for a 5850, I run all games at 16x AA on HDTV...... and I still lag on SC2 ... LOL

Have you ever had an Nvidia card? If so, you need to do a clean driver reinstall by wiping the old one with drive sweeper.

this is a new rig I bought like 3 weeks ago :O only had a 5770 and a 5850, I've had the exact same issue with both.

I have a friend on a low-end quad with a GTS 250 that runs everything maxed easily; and another bud with a Q9550 w a GTX 275 that runs it as well all smoothly. =[

Sounds like it could be an ati driver thing to me, seeing as how everyone is pointing to old nvidia cards that run it fine.

Yep, could be that the new 5x00 drivers isn't optimized for a new game such as SC2 yet. That could be a possibility.

To OP: Is your other games/benchmarks running fine?

probably software driver issue, hardware's fine. I played SC2 beta on my friends computer maxed out on Core2Duo wolfsdale with 4850.
