Windows xp solution deskstop run in a single channel

I have assembled deskstop and I encounter this problem, when I opened my computer its appears to the screen it runs in a single channel. please help me how to solve this problem.
Do I need to reformat my computer.

  1. Depends on your motherboard and the number of memory sticks you use. Your board may run in single channel mode with just one or three sticks. Use identical pairs of ram for dual channel mode and go by the color coded slots. A few older boards only run in single channel mode; go to the manufacturer's website for your board model number and check the specs. Single channel mode is only 5-7% slower than dual channel; you won't notice it for most applications.
