Hello, welcome to Tom's Hardware. Anyway in the game should have video settings, try to find the resolution closest to the native resolution of your monitor.

Depending on the game, there are usually graphics settings inside the game. Select the highest available one that matches your monitor similar to what mister g said. However, some older games do not have such great graphics, so you may want to run the game in windowed mode.
