Games Lagging

Hi,
I have following configuration
AMD 5000+
2 GB DDR2 RAM 667 MHz
MSI M2N-MX SE Motherboard
250 + 80 SATA HDD
GALAXY 9800GT 512 MB Graphic Card
Running Windows 7 Ultimate 32-bit
And all these components running on 300 watts SMPS
Now my problem is whenever I start playing games it lags and it lags in offline mode, there are no specific games that lag its for all games. When I start playing it runs smoother for 20 sec’s then for next 20 sec’s it lags then again it play smoother then again it lags it is lagging after certain interval of time please help I want to know why is it happening and does my power supply produce enough power to run 9800gt on my system? Pls help

The power requirements on the nvidia site recommend a minimum of 400W, so it may be the issue of the card not getting enough power. I had a similar problem with my 9800GTX+ and I simply RMA'd the card. But in your case I would strongly assume insufficient power to the card

Agree... U need more power from your PSU.
Make sure u have a good brand like Ocz, Antec, Corsair, SilverSTone...
Get a minimum 500W.

One last thing dont buy an expensive power supply. 9800gt run fine at 400 watt.
Try Cooler master 460watt or 500watt extreme plus PSU. Enough for 9800gt, also cheap too.

It's one thing to go inexpensive, but never go cheap on a PSU. Any quality 450+ watt PSU will do, watch out for sales.

Keep an eye out for Corsair, Seasonic, PC Power & Cooling, OCZ, Antec, there's bound to be one in your budget.

Cheap means inexpensive, not bad in quality. Cooler master is a popular brand.
the supply that i suggested have one PCI express power connerction 12v and 18AMP that is required by the card. One of my friend have 500watt supply and he has two 9800gt, SLI mode.
It is easy to have all these brands in america and europe but difficult to find in india.
