CPU temperature

Hello,i have athlon64 x2 dual core 5000+, and when i checked cpu temp with hardware monitor it was around 35C to 40C. OK but when i started playing DA game it rised in couple of minutes to 77C to 79! Is that way too much or is it still ok? Are there any easy solutions to reduce temp or just to buy new cooling?

Better replace the thermal paste.

Too much. Make sure your case/heatsink is clean of dust and like mosox said you best try re-seating the CPU and re-applying thermal compound.

Make sure all your case fans are working and doing the correct thing. By that I mean they are not fighting each other. I have seen home built jobs where the fans are kinda extracting and exhaling the same area of air. For example the PSU fan pushes air out at the back next to the system fan which normally sucks it in about 3 or 4 inches away which is not ideal.
