  1. where are you getting this message? what have you done before getting this message?
  2. If you have Windows 7, you can turn off messages about creating a Windows backup in the Control Panel/Action Center.
  3. Either your bios or your OS is reading the SMART status of the drive and predicting a failure. You may want to make a backup soon just in case.

  4. IMHO, either akipp21 or Hawkeye22 may be correct. With more exact text of the message, we could tell why it is coming out.

    If you have never used Windows Backup, a status monitor could be trying to get you to follow best practices and simply do a backup.

    Alvine, what is that that you are holding? It looks like a large rack of ribs. A xylophone?
