Hi, I'm building a new computer and I just wanted to double check the compatibility of the parts. I'm worried about the ASUS mobo cause it's said to have compatibility issues with memory.. anyway here it is.

Don't worry for the questions we are here to help u.

The Maximus III is a very solid mobo even I think that is the best with P55 chipset that exist in this moment but bear in mind something before buy it.

1- Do u want extreme OC?
2- Do u need all the features that the mobo has?
3- Can u get the same performance of that mobo with another one more cheap and with the same quality?

Another thing that I see in ur build is this:

Here are the system requirements for the 5850:

ATI Radeon™ HD 5850 System Requirements

PCI Express® based PC is required with one X16 lane graphics slot available on the motherboard
500 Watt or greater power supply with two 75W 6-pin PCI Express® power connectors recommended (600 Watt and four...
Get these: http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16820231303&cm_re=ripjaws-_-20-231-303-_-Product
Much better than those Crucials, and are almost guaranteed to be compatible with P55.

I disagree with u man, those Crucial are very solid even in OC and can defeat that G.Skill that u recommend if u don't see that is the recommend buy of Tom's hardware.

I always use Crucial (My current RAM are Crucial Ballistix Tracer DDR2 and i'm waiting for the same series but DDR3) and none of the RAM that I use had been in the QVL of the mobo even that run perfectly.

@OP

1- I would change the case for this Dragon Lord K62, IMO is a better case and more cheap.
2- This Samsung Spinpoint F3 1TB is much better IMO.

Thanks for the advice. I was originally gonna go with the spinpoint cause they were better but I couldn't get it on amazon to get it on time.. so I changed to WD caviar black, but now that I think about it, I think I should just get on newegg and wait it out.

As for the case, it's pretty nice. I think I've changed my mind to the Cooler Master Haf 932's that are going for about 125 at Microcenter.

Thanks. Gotta love the good airflow and room.

In your opinion, is the Asus Maximus III Formula a good mobo? I don't know if it's worth the 220.

Sorry for the questions, I'm fairly new at this. I haven't been keeping up with newish stuff.

Certified power supplies are recommended. Refer to http://ati.amd.com/certifiedPSU for a list of Certified products
Minimum 1GB of system memory
Installation software requires CD-ROM drive
DVD playback requires DVD drive
Blu-ray™ playback requires Blu-ray drive
For an ATI CrossFireX™ system, a second ATI Radeon™ HD 5850 graphics card, an ATI CrossFireX Ready motherboard and one ATI CrossFireX Bridge Interconnect cable per graphics card (included) are required

The recommended PSU is for the entire system so if u don't plan use Crossfire in the future the PSU that u have is a little overkill for the rig but if u still want the 650W PSU check this Antec 650W is much better that the Corsair and with MIR is more cheap.

Yeah, I don't think I'm gonna extreme OC right now now but I'd like it to have the potential to OC easily for the future.

Would there be a problem in compatibility for the Corsair one? Argh, I was gonna go Antec 650 cause it was continuous and has modular cables.. but my bro kept convincing me to get the Corsair one so I bought it.

It wouldn't have compatibility issues using just the 5850 on it would it? I don't get the whole rails thing.. It's just saying that if or when I use crossfire I need 500-600 watts?
