Computer is frozen at startup

Computer is frozen after startuo. The mouse moves but I can;t run any programs. Any help is appreciated.

can you reach windows task manager by pressing 'ctrl+alt+delete' or 'ctrl+alt+escape'?

or have you tried booting windows into safe mode by pressing 'F8' during boot (while the system is turning on)?

If you can move the mouse, then the computer is NOT frozen. Some application must be causing conflicts with the normal operations of the os.

I can move the mouse around but I can get any program to run.

Yes I did, when in safe mode I try to re-enable System Restore and I couldn't because I was in safe mode. I also try to open any program and I couldn't I'm thinking of re-loading the operating system and see if it clears my problem.

I try ctrl+del+altl and i was stuck in Processe and could't changeto application and my cpu usage was like 1%

It sounds like you have some sort of malware affecting the system.

You could try installing some antivirus in safe mode, then have it scan the drive.

If reinstalling the operating system isn't too much of a hassle for you, then that should hopefully clear the problem.

Found the problem and I'm embarass, it was a bad wireless mouse, I replaced the mouse and the computer is fine. Thanks for your help.
