Pc stopped working psu is ok

Hello,
pc suddenly died on me. I have shorted out the psu and it works as per normal. Have also tested the power switch and this too is not the problem. When I connect the 24 pin back to the motherboard everything is dead once again. Please help.

You may need a new motherboard or cpu. List your complete system specs.
