I'm looking to upgrade my pc gaming purposes. My current system is as follows:
mobo: GA-M570SLI-S4 rev. 2.0
CPU: AMD Athlon 3800X2 2.0Ghz
GPU: GeForce 8800GTS 320m
1G ddr2 667
PSU: Corsair vx550w
OS: Windows 7 32-bit

Upgrades are as follows:
CPU: Phenom II X4 945 95w 3.0Ghz
GPU: Radeon HD5850
2X2G DDR2 800

Are there any compatibility issues here? If not, will this suffice for gaming?

No problem... :)

Now I'm looking at the right MOBO ( http://www.gigabyte.com.tw/Support/Motherboard/CPUSupport_Model.aspx?ProductID=2539&ver= ), it will support the II x4 945 with the latest BIOS from Gigabyte.

According to Gigabyte's website, no AM3 CPU is supported on the motherboard... http://www.gigabyte.com.tw/Support/Motherboard/CPUSupport_Model.aspx?ProductID=2442&ver=

You will need to upgrade to an AM3 / AM2+ motherboard to keep your chosen RAM. Your video card choice is a great one.

The info I'm getting from Gigabyte's site is that Am3 processors are backward compatible with AM2/AM2+ motherboards. All I should need is a BIOS update(Fhk).

If you look at the link in my 1st post ( http://www.gigabyte.com.tw/Support/Motherboard/CPUSupport_Model.aspx?ProductID=2442&ver= ), it provides the CPU supported list and what BIOS version. Your CPU choice is not supported by the actual MOBO.

In general AM3 CPU's are backwards compatible but your MOBI still needs to support it through BIOS updates.
