Remove the code tags from your post so people can actually click on the links. You need UEFI in order to boot from a GPT partitioned disk. You didn't mention if this is to be a bootable raid or just storage.

Your mobo supports large hard drives if its UEFI.

As long as you have Windows 7, you'll be ok.

After you set the drives up in RAID, when you boot in to Windows, you'll set the drive(s) up in GPT, not MBR, due to size. GPT gets over the 2.2TB limit.

Now, I don't know if you can install the OS to a 3TB hard drive, but you said it'll be for storage only. So you are good.

Cheers.

OS isn't installed on the 2x 3TB HDDs - got it on a SSD which were installed months ago
The 3TB is storage and want it in RAID 1 so it's backed up - that's what bug me + the 746GB problem (would be nice to know step for step to do)

Follow foscooter's suggestions. Your 746GB experience is very indicative of the drive(s) being formatted/intialized as MBR instead of GPT.
Delete the partition completely and reformat with GPT, should see it all...

As stated, it simple. Create the raid container via the raid bios. Use disk management to initialize the array, selecting GPT when asked to select a partition type.
