3rd party cpu cooler suggestions

Core i7 860

Gigabyte UD3 mobo.

Cooler master Centurion 5 CAC T05 UW Case

Im finding out that the stock cpu cooler packaged with this processor is pretty much junk.

If im going to do ANY type of OC'ing I'll need something a little better...

I was looking at the Cooler Master Hyper 212. Its around 45$ right now with shipping...Trying to stay close to 25$ or 30$...Or is that too low for a decent cooler?

Anybody have any other suggestions?

The Hyper 212+ is one of the best coolers in that price range. If you want to see the ratings of different cpu coolers frostytech.com is a good site. I would say go with the CM though. I'm guessing you're planning on ocing right?
  2. Thats about the best HSF for the money ATM ( you could go to a store and pick it up and save shipping )
  3. Also you might want to check out the Sunbeam Core Contact Freezer. I have that for my 955 and it rocks. It's rated 8th for temps on frostytech, and any of the ones ahead of it would end up costing quite a bit more.

$32 on newegg and it also has a $15 MIR (also free shipping). You will need to buy this LGA 1156 retention bracket for $10 also though so it would end up being about the same without rebates.

The sunbeam is also whisper-quiet: I can't hear it at all over my case fans.
  6. Get the Hyper 212 Plus. Best bang for buck cooler. Good for OCing too.
  7. +1 for the hyper
